Biography

Born in northern Indiana in 1948, Dallas Myers has lived and traveled in Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa for 25 years before settling in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1996 with his wife and two sons. Although having a life-long interest in art, it has only been in the last 30 years as a Christian and an artist, he has developed his own "contemporary stylism" on canvas for the viewer's interpretation and pleasure.
The ever-present vivid colors appeal to him aesthetically and he attempts to create an image on canvas that evokes an emotion of delight and well-being in the eye of the beholder. He uses a simple, stylistic approach, minimizing detail.
His only formal art education was an oil painting class he took in 1987 under Abner Hershberger, an accomplished mid-western artist and college professor. Primarily self-taught, Dallas works exclusively in oil with a variety of subject matter reflecting the different environments and cultures that have inspired his art.
Each work originates in an image or impression the artist has seen which often lies dormant for months or years before being recreated on canvas with the final work being more of the artist's imagination than of the original impression.  Reoccurring themes are musical instruments, musicians, hats, and architectural forms often integrated into the same painting creating a unique collage limited only by the size of the canvas
